EA’s decided to mix chunks of Mythic and Bioware to create a new group to handle the publisher’s RPG and MMO projects, with Bioware’s Ray Muzyka manning the helm. No doubt Bioware’s Star Wars MMO was a catalyst for the move.

The same story also mentions that Mark Jacobs, Mythic’s rather fervent co-founder, has left the company. Jacobs spent a lot of time advocating Warhammer to the supremely critical, but even his community hand-dirtying wasn’t enough to get the MMO’s subscribers numbers in the same league as World of Warcraft. I reckon a drop of 500,000 players between November 2008 and February 2009 didn’t help either.
